As a residential construction professional I have often dreamed of building my house that I personally designed and doing the work myself. My wife of 40 years has asked of me a Santa Fe style home with an open center courtyard, something perfect in style for our area as well as a favorite of both of ours

Many times I hear pastors preach about hanging on to your dreams as they are God given and to never let go. I have followed this teaching for a long time but as the years role by and after an illness set in these past few years I have admittedly begun to wonder. Not if God will help me fulfill our dream, but if I am even able to do the work any longer. Do I even wish to pursue? Pretty tired these days but with God, everything is possible.

We have lived in lease properties for most of our lives together, leaving me to yearn for a home. American dream and all that.

The other day, while having my daily devotional study and prayer time, my thoughts drifted back to this dream. I then heard the Lord call my name;

“Maxie, you are building your home in heaven.”
